commercial industry

The commercial sector includes a wide variety of applications which are now largely served by small fixed wing planes and helicopters.

Some of the many applications include: routine power line and rail line break identification, off shore oil and gas platform scheduled surveillance, crop management, aerial geological survey and mapping, flood and disaster assessment, air sampling and early warning and measurement of critical chemical, biological and radiation conditions, weather data collection and environmental monitoring, commercial security at large installations, wilderness and park patrols and monitoring of certain conditions such as forest fires, publicity photography, and private event protection.

USA, UK and Europe

While there are some companies active in one or more of these areas, large scale use of UAS’s to replace fixed wing and helicopters is dependent on the establishment by government agencies of rules on the use of UAS’s in civilian air space.

These applications can be classified into those where UAS’s are expected to operate in segregated and those expected to be used in integrated air space.

Segregated airspace is where other types of aircraft do not normally operate, and integrated airspace is where several types of aircraft normally operate.

Prior to full government UAS rules coming into force, some UASs have been authorised to operate in segregated airspace. Both the EU and US governments have placed deadlines of 2015 for their respective civilian air and communications agencies to establish a comprehensive set of rules and guidelines for UAS flights in civilian airspace.

However, several state government agencies in the United States are placing blanket restrictions on the use of UASs within their borders. The UK and European governments are not moving as quickly as anticipated to establish rules.

Asia, Middle East, Africa and South & Central America

In most other regions of the world, governments do not apply highly restrictive rules.

Therefore the use of UASs for commercial missions is developing much more rapidly.

IAS Commercial is the division of International Autonomous System which offers commercial organisations around the world a portfolio of highly effective cost efficient solution packages for specific mission requirements.

IAS Commercial's small to medium size UASs are best suited for these markets. They are both highly versatile and assure low cost of ownership.

IAS Commercial focusses on these markets to meet its high volume manufacturing and market penetration objectives.
